Cost Management Alerts

From BusinessFinanceLink, Issue #374

Looking for a set of process tools to increase efficiency, cut costs and improve your organization's performance? Six Sigma has been the methodology of choice, thanks to the success attributed to it by Jack Welch during his tenure at GE. But Six Sigma's effectiveness is being questioned, as many GE celebrity alumni -- including former CEO Robert Nardelli at Home Depot -- have implemented the methodology only to see their stock prices lag. Ready to step into this performance breach is Qualpro, with their "multivariate testing model." Turns out The Wall Street Journal published an article referencing a report produced by Qualpro that compares the stock performance of companies using Six Sigma against the S&P 500 stock index, and the Black Belts apparently came up short. But the report cited in the article is not readily available (at least, not online as far as we can tell), and its research methodology is being called into question.
