The argument about nature vs nurture in leadership development theory wages on, but as this article points out, there seems to be so many strong leaders that the old myth about born leaders is just that -- a myth. The natural born leader is rare, this columnist says, and leadership is more a matter of choosing to develop leadership skills. "We don't see the thousands of hours of practice and study world-class performers put into their work. When we do see the final performance, it looks so natural." But most high profile leaders are ordinary people who chose to do extraordinary things.
