Health Care Cost Increases Outpace Inflation Rate

Employers around the globe will be spending more on medical costs in the next five years, according to a Watson Wyatt Worldwide poll of insurance companies. Eighty-one percent of participants report that medical costs are surpassing the rate of inflation in their country. Ted Nussbaum, North America director of group and health care consulting at Watson Wyatt, says, "Given the similar factors driving health care costs around the world, multinationals have an opportunity to develop global solutions that engage workers and improve their health and productivity."
