Leaders expect a lot from their knowledge workers (professionals who may know more about what they're doing than the boss does) but expectations work both ways, according to this viewpoint on giving professionals what they need to keep them fully engaged. Leaders must encourage passion, value professionals' time, and enhance their ability to perform, because knowledge workers are working for more than the money.
