The main reason people quit their jobs is because they can't connect with their bosses as leaders and as people, as this "how to" on retaining talent points out. There's some good advice here for leaders on relationship building including suggestions for connecting with workers emotionally -- but proceed with caution if you decide to try one out. We've seen how seemingly good ideas like "create a surprise, fun outing as part of a team business trip" fail when undertaken by leaders like Dundler Mifflin's Michael on the TV show "The Office."
